Crow Road Church, Glasgow
We have recently secured Planning Permission for the alteration, refurbishment and extension of New Partick Free Church, currently occupied and operated by Crow Road Free Church.
The project includes refurbishment of the Scottish Gothic style church building designed by A. Petrie and Sons in 1910, and consolidation of a series of interconnected accommodation towards the rear of the site.
The first phase, programmed to start in early 2025, will include a light refurbishment of the church alongside a new entrance experience featuring glass doors, a new arrival lobby, and new external landscaping.
A link extension and café-style break out space will internalise the connection between the church building and rear accommodation to allow a more diverse range of activities to take place and for the premises to operate as one. The form of the extension is dictated by a series of constraints associated with linking the buildings, and the desire to maintain and enhance the appearance of the original church viewed from Crow Road.
The extension will create a new "front door" for extracurricular activities outside of working hours and alongside operation of the main church services. It will also provide level access to the rationalised rear buildings which are to be brought up to current standards to create an enlarged rear hall and suite of classroom spaces.
