Argyll Hydrogen Hub

Green Power International is an Alloa based energy provider operating wind farms across sites in central and northwest Scotland. As part of its growth strategy, GreenPower is progressing the development of hydrogen production and storage facilities located to make use of excess energy from its wind farms and to serve local transport and industrial markets.

Its facility at Oban in Argyll is located to serve local bus and haulage markets and may in future serve local ferry and railway operations.

The site is designed to produce hydrogen from local power and water sources through 3no industrial electrolysers which is then compressed and stored before dispensing to tube trailers or through the on site dispensing operation.

GreenPower seek to demonstrate the highest standards of sustainability in all aspects of their operations. The buildings at Oban are designed to make extensive use of glulam timber to replace conventional use of steel structures. The dispensing canopy and signage is intended to present the ethos of the company in built form signposting their commitment to sustainability and green values.
