Research and Manufacturing Plant - Genesis Diagnostics Ltd, Ely

Following the success of the plan remodelling project undertaken for Axis Shield Diagnostics Ltd, and the transition of key staff to Genesis Diagnostics Ltd., Wellwood Leslie were asked to develop design proposals for the development of a new manufacturing and research facility for Genesis Diagnostics and Cambridge Nutritional Sciences based in Ely, Cambridgeshire. both companies are engaged in the design and development of blood based diagnostic testing kits for a range of allergies and medical conditions.

The appointment required the development of a project brief and concept design from first principles. Wellwood Leslie worled closely with the scientific team to understand their detail of their manufacturing and research environments and space requirements and to develop that into a set of client requirements which could be taken through construction by local partners.

The commission included the development and submission of an application for planning consent and the development of a Stage 3+ tender package of information including room data sheets as the basis of a design and build tender.
